How Safix uses cookies and local storage
Cookies and similar browser storage help websites remember choices and provide specific functions. Safix uses essential storage for site operation and cookie choices. Optional analytics, when enabled, are controlled by your consent.
Essential storage
safix_cookie_consent— remembers whether you chose necessary-only storage or allowed analytics, for up to 180 days.safix_cookie_consent_state— local browser storage holding your saved consent preference and policy version.safix_cookie_consent_id— local browser storage containing a random identifier used to recognise a consent record where anonymous logging is enabled.- WordPress security and login storage — may be used for website administrators or as required to run and secure the site.
Browser local storage generally remains until it is cleared or replaced. The site’s consent plugin can also store an anonymous server-side record containing a random consent ID, the choice made, policy version, site hostname and time. If enabled, these records are retained for the period set in the plugin (24 months by default). The consent record does not include a visitor IP address or browser fingerprint.
Optional analytics
Safix may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages visitors use. When configured through the Safix Cookie Consent plugin, analytics is off until you allow it. Google Analytics may then set identifiers such as _ga and _ga_*. Their duration depends on Google’s settings, browser rules and the analytics configuration. Analytics is not loaded by this plugin when no GA4 measurement ID is configured.
Contact-form protection
If anti-spam protection such as hCaptcha is enabled on our enquiry form, that service may use technical signals or browser storage to identify automated submissions. This is separate from the optional Google Analytics category and should be reviewed against the contact-form configuration.
How to change your choice
When optional analytics is enabled, you can choose Necessary only or Allow analytics on the consent banner and revisit your choice using the site’s Cookie settings control. Withdrawing analytics consent stops subsequent analytics loading and removes recognised Google Analytics cookies where the plugin can do so.
You can also clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking essential storage may interfere with some site features.
